There is a long tradition of church and worship in the Leander-Cedar Park area.  In fact, Spanish missionaries were the first non-Natives to explore and settle this part of Texas. New Hope Baptist Church, Cedar Park, 200 W. New Hope Drive, (512) 259-1590.  New Hope Baptist church is one of the oldest - if not the oldest - church in the Cedar Park-Leander area.  Written records for the church begin in 1869, but there is some evidence that the church existed in the community as far back as 1848. Almost 250 years later the congregation is still meeting every Sunday and more.  www.discovernewhope.com

Leander United Methodist Church, Leander, 107 S. West Drive, (512) 259-1284.  One of the oldest churches in the Cedar Park-Leander area, it began at about 1860 in the city of Bagdad (before it was Leander) as Methodist Episcopal Church, South.  Over the years it has also been known as the Leander Methodist Church and in 1968 the Leander United Methodist Church.  It is still meeting near downtown Leander.  leanderumc.org

RockPointe Church, Cedar Park-Leander, PO Box 950, Leander, TX 78646, Phone: (512) 259-8872.  A relatively young non-denominational, non-traditional church.  RockPointe Church usually meets in Leander Middle School. www.rockpointechurch.com
